Mr Jiri Matl Dip Clin Dent Tech RCS Eng
Clinical Dental Technician – Dentures & Prosthetics GDC No. 163828
Providing dental care and technical expertise since 1993
Jiri qualified as a dental technician in 1993 after 4 years of studying Dental Technology in Brno in his home country of the Czech Republic. After qualifying he worked commercially in a dental laboratory attached to a dental practice, where he worked closely with the dentists, enabling him to interact with the patients and to see the work from start to finish.
A technical perfectionist making patients smile.
Further postgraduate study and qualification in 1998 (Fixed prosthodontics – crowns, bridges) and in 2000 (Removable prosthodontics – dentures, removable bridges) saw Jiri becoming more involved with patient’s treatment and more complex cases. With a perfectionist streak in him and seeing the results he could achieve in a patients smile this inspired Jiri to look to advance his career.
Further training and roots in the UK
After researching further courses and opportunities both at home and across the world, he took the bold move to leave his family in order to progress his career. Relocating to the UK in 2007 where he met his wife and settled in the South West. It was here that he successfully gained a place to study at the world renowned Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) London and joined the team at Ashbury Dental Care, who mentored and helped him complete the practical and theoretical aspects of the course.
In 2015 his hard work and vision paid off and he was one of the few to be awarded the Diploma in Clinical Dental Technology by the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK) of The Royal College of Surgeons of England. This increased qualification and skill set enabled him to work both independently and as part of the dental team. Providing full dentures directly to patients and working alongside the clinical staff, providing more complex prosthesis such as partial dentures and removable bridges.
Today as well as being a member of the team at Ashbury Dental Care, Jiri is a member of the International Team for Implantology and the Dental Technology Association. Since 2010 he has also been recognised and awarded ‘Platinum Status’ as a technican by Straumann (one of the UK’s leading implant companies).
Jiri’s training, skill, experience and perfectionist nature enables him to play a key role as part of the team at Ashbury Dental Care, contributing his technical knowledge and skills with dental materials to achieve a better design and most importantly naturally looking aesthetic dental restorations for patients.
